ENTERTAINMENT-GRADE COMPLIANCE

We create compliance trainings employees actually give a d*mn about.

Because when a single incident can cost your company millions (or billions), employee attention isn't optional.

Make it impossible to ignore.

Nobody likes compliance training.
People like what’s interesting to them, and sometimes it’s a compliance training.

We use original thinking, storytelling and brand design to make your training unforgettable. Because when people are compelled by what you’re saying and how you’re saying it, the learnings become impossible to ignore.

So how do you keep them engaged?

THE PROBLEM

Employees treat most compliance training like taking their medicine:

  • A task to get through...
  • Completed only when they have to...
  • Watched at 2x speed...
  • Forgotten when it matters most...

THE SHIFT

Training isn’t the goal. Giving a d*mn is.

Chapter & Verse sources the best thinking from entertainment, psychology, storytelling, instructional design and branding to reimagine what a training can be for companies like Meta, Netflix and Microsoft.

Here are some of our key strategies we use to create learning experiences that inspire employees to engage, remember, and actually give a d*mn.

Make learners feel

When people experience emotion, they are far more likely to pay attention, care, and, most importantly, remember. There are up to 100+ different emotional states. Like a good wine, pair the right emotion to the right learning.

The experience is the message

Our subconscious minds use cues to determine if something is important or not. A rushed, generic experience says, “This is just a checkbox.” Use design, craft and creativity to create an experience that signals the importance of your training. While this isn't necessarily about budget, doing it wrong has a price. You could create thousands of years of meaningful training experiences for the cost of a single major compliance incident.

Stories create memories

Learning a large quantity of information about compliance, security or business conduct is difficult, especially when it’s dry, technical or detailed. But when learning is conveyed via a very human story, people are far more likely to remember the pathway through the learning points. And care.

Brand the big stuff

Some elements of a training are so important that they deserve to become part of the vernacular of an organization. Use approaches from the world of branding (taglines, design, logos, repetition) to elevate learnings to the level of culture so they stick and become part of the company.

Two posts from Scott Hanselman on the “Standards of Business” training: “the last few years it’s been, like, PRODUCED. I mean, actors, plot-lines, backstabbing, and I AM GRIPPED. They’ve turned our ethics training into a telenovela. SO GOOD.”

Our Background

Chapter & Verse is a full-service advertising and brand design agency focused on creating simple solutions to complex business challenges.

We work with some of the world's most valuable brands including Netflix, Adobe, Meta, AT&T, Starbucks, Microsoft, Expedia, Amazon and others.

We make everything from Super Bowl ads to social campaigns to digital tools and mobile games.

Almost a decade ago we asked ourselves a question:

What if employee training felt like culture instead of obligation?

We have spent the last decade reimagining how to inspire employees to engage, learn, and care across a wide range of topics.

While much of our best compliance work is classified, reach out and we can give you a peek behind the curtain.
